Espacio Open this weekend hosts the sixth edition of the Maker Faire creative technology show
The former Artiach biscuit Factory on Zorrotzaurre, now the location of Espacio Open, this weekend hosts the sixth edition of the Bilbao Maker Faire show. It is a creative technology event that brings the public into contact with inventors, engineers, artists, technology experts and other professions of tomorrow. The show will open at 17.00 on Friday and last through to 15.00 on Sunday.
This event, entry to which is free of charge, will be attended by some of the world’s most important “makers”; these are local and international people who create new products using craft techniques but applying new technologies.
Likewise, the show will include different “fab labs” (places where creators can swap ideas). It will also be attended by students from engineering and design schools and vocational training centres.
The schedule of events offers over a hundred activities free of charge for all the family, such as workshops on 3-D printing, robotics technology or cryptocurrencies, to name just a few.
The attendance figure of over 12,000 visitors at last year’s edition is indicative of the interest this event arouses.
